Audrey Argue Competition 2025

Friday evening saw the return of our Audrey Argue Competition, a tribute to one of our founding members whose passion for animals and photography is celebrated into this annual competition.

This event was judged by Rob Sergeant from CPA camera club who began by offering heartfelt condolences on the recent and untimely passing of our chairman, Ian Thorn. Rob, a keen sports photographer, shared that he and Ian had crossed paths trackside, united by their shared love of photographing motorsports.

The competition itself showcased a varying array of entries, ranging from the most pampered pets to the wildest of creatures. Rob began with the monochrome print round, offering thoughtful commentary on contrast, tonal range, and the emotional depth that black and white imagery can evoke.

Next came the colour prints, where Rob encouraged entrants to be mindful of digital greens and overly bright areas that can distract from the subject. His insights were both technical and artistic, helping members see their work through a fresh outlook.

The evening concluded with the PDI (Projected Digital Image) rounds. Rob spent extra time with the Novice entries, providing detailed feedback aimed at nurturing growth and encouraging future improvement. His generosity of time was appreciated by all. The Advanced PDI round followed, with Rob offering constructive critiques that balanced encouragement with expertise.
