David Best has kindly organised

This years outings will take place on the first Saturday of May, June, July & August.  We will meet at the club rooms at 8.50 am to leave at 9.00am sharp, we will decide at the end of each day whether to have a meal locally or to go straight home.  Groups can arrange to travel together beforehand or lifts can be agreed on the morning before we set off, contributions towards travel cost are left up to the individual.  The cost of each outing is £4 per person.

Please remember that the outings are not restricted to club members, friends and family are very welcome.  If you are a visitor to this web site and have not come to the club yet you are welcome to join us to meet us before the commencement next year’s program.

Note that we have introduced an RSS Feed to the Site. See the Menu link above. Its a nice way to have the news directed to your Newsreader.

The Club currently has a membership of sixty + persons, coming mostly from Bangor and the Northd Down locality, but also Newtownards,Comber, Newtownabbey and Belfast and other locations further afield. Bangor is a seaside resort and the major town of North Down in the province of Northern Ireland. Other areas of North Down include Holywood, Crawfordsburn, Groomsport, Craigantlet and Orlock. Bangor and North Down Camera Club is part of the Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA), Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and the Federation of International Associations of Photography (FIAP).

meetings...

The Club meets formally on Friday evenings from 7.45pm during September to May. Wednesday evenings are used for practical workshops and tutorials and useful for networking.

The current venue is our premises at Kingsland, Ward Avenue, Ballyholme, Bangor, just a short distance along the coastal Seacliffe Road past the Eisenhower Pier. We directly overlook Belfast Lough, only a few metres away, and is served with substantial car parking. Check out our Club Location Maps page for directions.

The premises in Ward Avenue, Ballyholme, Bangor, enables us to provide 365 days a year facilities for our members, and includes studios with the latest state of the art lighting system, conventional darkroom facilities and electronic ‘whiteroom’ digital darkroom facilities.

Digital Camera owners are well catered for in the club whilst traditional chemical and film technology is also well represented. There is a keen interest in Digita Audio Visual techniques and members present their AVs throughout the year.

Throughout the season, guest speakers regularly attend for illustrated presentations. These presentations are given by experienced Photographers and Trade Sponsored Speakers. These evenings are designed to be both entertaining and instructive, providing something for everyone from the beginner to items on more advanced and innovative techniques that will be of interest to even the most experienced photographer.

The Club organises regular competitions for black & white prints (Lindsay Orr Trophy), Colour prints (Beginners and Advanced sections) and 35mm slides. Near the end of the formal season an Exhibition Competition is held and the winners and place takers photographs are exhibited in local centres for public viewing. In addition prints of camera club members will represent the area at Northern Ireland Inter-Club competitions, the Celtic Challenge, Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA) and further to UK wide via PAGB and internationally via FIAP and the RPS.
