Summer Outings 2008

David Best has kindly organised

This years outings will take place on the first Saturday of May, June, July & August.  We will meet at the club rooms at 8.50 am to leave at 9.00am sharp, we will decide at the end of each day whether to have a meal locally or to go straight home.  Groups can arrange to travel together beforehand or lifts can be agreed on the morning before we set off, contributions towards travel cost are left up to the individual.  The cost of each outing is £4 per person.

Please remember that the outings are not restricted to club members, friends and family are very welcome.  If you are a visitor to this web site and have not come to the club yet you are welcome to join us to meet us before the commencement next year’s program.

Note that we have introduced an RSS Feed to the Site. See the Menu link above. Its a nice way to have the news directed to your Newsreader.

Overview: Bangor and North Down Camera Club - Members Galleries

Our new web site is a great success attracting visitors from all over the world.  But, with your help, we can make it better. You are invited to submit 8 photos for your 'members gallery' that will be displayed on the club web site. We now have 8 galleries up and running to date, use the menu on the left, go to 'Photo Galleries' then 'Members Mini Galleries' and select from the members names displayed to see what your gallery could look like. The mini sites are dispalyed alphabetically, by surname.

How do I submit my photos?

Send them to me by email, or give them to me on a  CDROM, or on USB Flash drive on a club evening. Images must be in high quality jpeg (not tiff) and if you can resize them to 500 pixels on the longest side that would be helpful in keeping the file sizes down. Each image should be accompanied with a short description, title, date taken where, etc., This information should be supplied in a simple text or Word file.

I would like to have a gallery but have no idea how to prepare the images,
can I get any help?

No problem, contact either David Roberts or Mark Allen and then attend any of our Wednesday evening sessions - there will be someone there who will help you. Bring your images on CDROM or USB Flash Drive and prepare some text to accompany each image in a Word Processor.

What will you do with the images I send you?

Your images will be resized and optimised for display on the Internet. (Your images will be displayed as a thumbnail and the bigger image will be around 450x302 or 210x337.)  Galleries will be created on a first come first served basis. It takes some time to make the galleries and upload them to the Internet. Bangor and North Down Camera Club are offering this service free of charge. We believe that such an approach can only enhance the credibility of our web site.  It will allow members (that perhaps do not have a web site of their own) to display their photos and share the web address with their friend's and family.  Your gallery can also offer other information, such as your photo site (eg Flickr, PBase. etc.) and your email address, if you wish.
